Coffee Cozy and a Card

I finally finished my first coffee cozy. I only bought the die about a year ago so I guess it was about time. I took the cozy to work today and used it with my first Pumpkin Spice latte of the season. I got lots of compliments on it so now I want to make lots more! This one was really simple, I just used the heart from the details die set (and the adorable matching heart tag but you can't see it in the pics), a button stacks die and some leaves but I can't remember where those are from now.

I also made my first card with the Beautiful Brushstrokes kit.  Oh my goodness, I don't really use flowers very much but I LOVE these. They are so easy, even when you are off a bit they still look great. I masked the flowers a bit to stamp the leaves. I was pretty lazy so I just tore up a paper towel. Probably not the best method cause it kept moving on me but I still got the effect.  I used a few rainstones, a sentiment from Keep it Simple Thank You and a little Wink of Stella in the flower centers. I can't wait to try watercolor with it!

Card for baby!

I made this quick baby card tonight to give to a friend tomorrow.  I love this coverplate from PTI.  It was used this week in the MIM and I wanted to make a card for the challenge, coloring embossing paste, but I didn't really have time to get that messy.
I used some Crate Paper patterned paper for the petals and set them in aqua mist. I had a little dark greenish - brown nubby gem (I don't know what these are called!) that I used as a center. The sentiment is from Boutique Borders Baby. Very simple card,  although it would have been so much faster and easier if I would have used my ATG gun. For some reason I started with liquid glue when I put down the Aqua Mist piece, so then I had to glue in each petal! I should have covered the card base with adhesive and then just popped them in.  Oh well, next time!

Halloween Card

I love the technique shown on this week's Make it Monday over at PTI. And, after this week's sneak peeks of the August release, I'm getting excited about Halloween.  So even though it is barely past July I created a fun Halloween card. This was a super quick attempt but I really like the card so I might make another one to see if I can do it a little better.

Graduation Card

I have a graduation card today. I don't have any graduation stamps, so I just used a PTI congratulations sentiment. I used a bunch of strips of card stock from when I was practicing with Background Basics Random Stripes.  I colored some brass dots and some clear star gems with a Copic marker to make them black. I kind of think I should have made the strips thinner, or have less of them, or maybe have pointed the ends like an arrow but was in a hurry (like always!). Grad party in an hour, better get going! Thanks for looking.

Another Envelope Wrap

I really liked the Make It Monday envelope challenge over at PTI so I decided to make another one. Today is my fifth anniversary so I made a card with envelope wrap for my husband using Love Potion. This set is so cute!

Envelope Wraps

This week the Make It Monday #163 challenge for PTI is to make a wrap for your envelope.

I needed to make a baby card this week for a friend and thought I would participate in the challenge. I made the card and envelope last night and already gave it to my friend. I think I turned out pretty cute! I am going to make envelope wraps again.  Easy and it really adds to the card.

I was up way past bedtime making this so I went pretty simple. By the time I was finished my desk was a mess so my pictures are not very good.  I just placed the card and envelope on a piece of paper on top of my mess! For the envelope wrap I used a Half and Half die with Melon Berry card stock, Polka Dot Parade #4 and Boutique Borders Baby. I used Chocolate ink although it looks black in the photo.

For the card, I CASE'd a card that Betsy Veldman made last year.

I didn't have most of the supplies she used so I had to improvise. The lampshade is made with the little dress from the Hanging Out dies and the base is the spoon from Comfort Food. The books are Building Blocks which I cut down a little bit. I used Simple Alphabet for the lettering on the spine. Baby's name is going to be June!

I used an old embossing folder for the shelf, a striped background stamp for the bottom half and Wonderful Words Baby.

Make it Monday #155: Make Your Own Confetti!

This week at Papertrey Ink the challenge is to use your dies and create your own confetti. I really wanted to use my new Phrase Play die,  so I made some confetti from my sun and clouds Heart 2 Heart dies and made a shaker card, using the phrase,  You are my sunshine. I used my Wink of Stella pen on the clouds and suns. I was going to use a scalloped border around the edge but it wouldn't quite cover the foam tape so I just made a simple frame from Aqua Mist card stock. I'm still thinking on how else I can do that.

Make it Monday: Take Two

This is my second card this week for the Make It Monday challenge for Papertrey Ink.. I felt that my first card didn't have enough texture, which was part of the challenge, so I decided to make another card. For this one I used the woodgrain impression plate with the Doodlie-Do stamp set and dies. I inlaid the die cuts and outlined everything with my Wink Of Stella.
ETA: I forgot to mention that I used the new button stacks dies to cut the yellowcenters in the flowers . I think they fit pretty well.

Make it Monday, One Layer Card

Fun challenge at Papertrey Ink this week. I don't remember ever making a one layer card before. This is also the first time I have used a multi-step stamp set. I really love this new anniversary set,  Bold Bouquet. I also added some Wink of Stella to the dots in the flower centers and to the sentiment.

More Watercolor

Here's my second card today for the Make It Monday challenge at Papertrey Ink. I used Scribbled Circles again, this time embossed with clear powder. Then I put some distress ink on my craft mat, spritzed it with water and smooshed my paper in it. This has a different look than my first card but I like it too.

Make it Monday - Watercolor Backgrounds

So this week I did some watercolor to participate in the Make It Monday challenge over at Papertrey Ink. I've never done watercolor, other than trying some pencils once, so it was a bit of a challenge for me.  When I first completed the watercolor panel I didn't think it looked that great, but once I got it on the card and added the sentiment I was pretty happy with it. I used my new Scribbled Circles stamps. I embossed them with aqua embossing powder and then used my Aqua Mist, Summer Sunrise and Hibiscus Burst inks. The sentiment is also new from Building Blocks. I was so happy that I found those little tiny pearls in my stash. The colors were a pretty good match and I think they really help to finish off the card.  It looks like they are little pins holding the strips. I did one more card tonight but I will put it in another post.

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

Hello! I made a little time tonight to make a card for the blog hop over at PTI. The theme this month is Sweet Spring. If I ever figure out how to include a link, or embed a picture I will start including those in my posts.   I didn't have much time so this is a CASE of a card Debbie Olson made last year when Polka Dot Parade #1 was released. I improvised a little and had to draw the grass by hand because I have no grass stamp *sad face*. I, of course, added some Wink Of Stella to the tail. I think you can see it in the second picture.

Hope every one has a great day!

Another PTI Day 6 card

Here is one more card I made.  The die is from another company but all the paper is PTI. I have to say that I love the size of this die as a focal point. I also brushed over the word with my Wink Of Stella pen.

PTI Anniversary Day 6

Today we had to make a card with a word as the focal point.  I really wanted to use my birthday die, but felt it was to small on its own so I cut three. Actually,  I cut twelve,  nine out of brown, and layered them all together for extra dimension.

I'm also linking this one up to the Day One challenge.

Happy 7th Birthday Papertrey Ink!

I made this card for today's PTI anniversary challenge. It is the first time I have used copics on a card, other than just coloring gems or something small like that. It's a little messy but I was pretty happy for my first attempt. I'm also entering this card in the day one challenge. I used color recipe number 4 and sketch number 6.

Make it Monday #151

I was finally able to finish a card for this week's Make it Monday, drop shadow die cuts.  I'm also going to link this one up to the Day 1 PTI 7th Anniversary challenge.  I used the 7th color scheme and the first sketch as my inspiration.

Another Make it Monday Card #150

I'm taking the day off tomorrow so I decided I could stay up late and make another card for this weeks Make it Monday for Papertrey Ink. I didn't think it would take me this long, but I decided to use Ruby Rose which I just got last week. I don't work with a lot of flowers so it took me forever to figure out what I was going to do. I knew I wanted to use the Fabulous Frames die after I saw another card here using the die. Such a clever idea!

Make It Monday #150

I started out thinking I was going to make a birthday card but once I was done I felt it looked more like a baby card. I wanted a bee to be flying around to kind of go this with the honeycomb pattern of the hexagon coverplate. I started flipping through my dies looking for something to stamp my sentiment on and I thought the little cloud was perfect. I had to cut my sentiment, from Hanging Out, in half to fit better.

I fussy cut the wings and left the ends curled up. I covered them with my Wink Of Stella because I'm obsessed with it. I think that i need to round the corners or something, i just haven't figured it out. Sorry my pics are dark, I finished this up at around 11:30 last night.

Make it Monday #149

Oh my goodness! Three cards in one week. I don't know if I will ever be able to top this!

I don't generally use a lot of glitter but I really wanted to participate in this week's challenge.  And, I figured that I really needed to use this little owl set, because when I was putting away my latest PTI order today I realized that I now have two of them. I was so busy over the holidays that I hadn't used it from my December order and I ordered it again!

This little guy is so cute! I glittered up his little wings. I did a little masking on the branch and the sentiment, and then added the "love" into the air with all those little hearts.

Pink blog hop card

I can't believe that I actually found time to make two cards this week! This one uses the Tipped Tops die again and a simple sentiment from TBF 23. I really wanted to have the open heart in the background. That is a stamp from a Studio Calico kit. I thought maybe the front panel was too plain but I felt better once I went over all the hearts with my Wink of Stella pen. I'm in love with that shimmer! I tried to get it in one of the pics but I don't know how well you can see it. I still might add something to the pink panel, I just can't decide what.

January blog hop

It's been so long since I posted anything but I have finally gotten through my crazy work schedule for year end and actually spent some time organizing my craft room this past weekend. It inspired me to actually make a card! This week I'm having lunch with a friend for her birthday so I thought I would make a card that I could also use for the blog hop.

There's not a lot of pink in this card but I really wanted to use my new tipped tops dies and I really like the look of the smokey shadow and white with the pops of raspberry fizz.

Its kind of hard to see in the photos but I used my Wink of Stella pen on the stars. I love the subtle shimmer!
